My Story

As a kid I was fascinated with the idea of creating video games. This led me to enrolling in a two year Multi-Media diploma program at Fanshawe College, as it was a prerequisite for the 3D Animation program I was interested in. In Multi-Media I was introduced to website development. I quickly fell in love with the complex and creative role that software engineering provides. To me, graduating from this course was the beginning of my career as a Software Engineer.

I proceeded to enrol in 3D Animation. It was a program with a shorter than average timespan than a typical course within this field of study. I was taught by a veteran in the industry. He pushed us to the very edge of our potential in a very condensed timeline. Many people that work with me are amazed at the amount of dedication, concentration and the general attitude I have towards my profession. I consider the 3D program to be part of the reason why.

Post-graduation I spent the summer as a 3D Artist and Unity developer for Slightly Social, Inc.. During this time I realised that software engineering was my preferred career path.

In-order to break into the software engineering industry, Next I created a portfolio of websites I developed for local businesses.

Due to my portfolio, I was able to land a job at Thrillworks Inc., one of Canada's most reputable digital agencies, as a Web Production Specialist. After 3 years I was promoted to Web Developer which was a position I held for an additional 2 years. At Thrillworks I developed digital media campaigns at a global scale.

My next role was at Evertz Microsystems Ltd., A global leader in broadcast solutions, where I held a position of Web Application Developer for 2 years. At Evertz I developed and maintained software that supported the video production teams behind live video broadcasts.

I currently work for Amazon.com Inc., within the Finance Automation organization, where I hold the position of Front-End Engineer II (L5) on the Accounts Receivable team.

Throughout my career so far I have had the great privilege to work with very talented groups of people, on amazing and challenging projects that I am very proud to have had a part in creating. I feel blessed to have found my passion so early in life. I love that working in this industry means I get to continually learn, grow and take on a new challenge every day.
